The Seabrook Public Works and Animal Control Complex is a multi-building project that was completed in early August 2017. The complex replaced the former public works building which was a dilapidated metal building. The city of Seabrook passed an 8.55-million-dollar bond in 2014 to improve the quality of life and safety for the city’s residents in which funds were allocated for the long-awaited complex. According to Brian Craig, City Engineer and Assistant Public Works Director, “this location is a backup Emergency Operations Center site, staff storm weathering location as well as staff housing” when natural disasters strike. Of the 32,000 square foot property, the city has also expanded the animal control department to include an animal shelter and adoption center.

The new complex was a far cry from the former facility and with the nearing threat of Hurricane Harvey the city granted them a temporary certificate of occupancy to move in on August 25th.
