The Harvest United Methodist Church located in Sienna Plantation was flourishing since moving into their first building 7 years ago and needed a space to stretch their legs. The church needed a place for the growing children’s ministry and a central location for fellowship.
Enter the beginnings on the Community Life Center (CLC) that was completed in October of 2017.
Katrina Holm, Director of Business Operations, assisted on the project and was excited to start using the new center. Among the many uses of the CLC, Katrina said one of the greatest was the opportunity to have more time for fellowship.
“Over the summer, we were able to cook lunches after services on Sunday and gather there to serve the congregation,” Holm stated. She added that the fellowship hall has been great for multipurpose use for the youth as well as their commercial kitchen which also makes sack lunches for “Lunches of Love,” a non-profit that serves lunches for children who face food insecurity over the weekends while away from school.
The center has enabled the church to be open for more opportunities to serve their community such as a covered basketball court behind the CLC, a meeting space for scouts and a theater camp. The church looks forward to the growth their new center will help provide.
